Happy Anniversary: One year of blogging with a grateful heart.

I didn’t recognize that there’s such word as blogging, Not until my friend (masterryo)  shared to me about what blogging is entirely about. I still remember way back then, when masterryo suggested if I can blog, I was giving him a blank face, literally a blank one, perhaps because the word blogging had never crossed my mind.

image

Before I start sharing how’s my life being a blogger for a year today. I want to thank masterryo for not just being my friend, but also educating me about blogging and helping me to embark on my own blog.

You influenced me a great deal, you taught me almost everything you know about blogging and that’s something people should learn from you. “Teaching and Educating without expecting in return”. Again, thank you so much for everything.

You can check him here http://www.masterryo.wordpress.com

So how’s my life being a blogger for a year at once?
Was there any changes?  Have I lived the life I expected to go?. Cause I started crawling to my goal to visit the 81 provinces in the Philippines?.  Only instead of giving me a bunch of questions, I will partake in my experience being a blogger for a year now.

How did I come up with The Little Lai: Beyond Limits?

It was April 23, 2015 at 2pm when I decided to blog with the help of my friend masterryo. It is seriously written when I say, “Little Lai”, because I’m a small guy who loves to move around with my two little itchy feet in all means possible. “Beyond Limits” because I always love to get out of my comfort zone.  My passion for travel has long been planted within me, I work hard to fund my travels, and living the life I dream of.

image

Why desultory traveler?

Desultory traveler because I usually travel without a proper plan, whenever I feel  down, discourage, rejected, unimportant, and in pain, I usually travel solo. Some of my closest friends know about it, whenever they see me posting a status on Facebook, about my travels, they instantly understand my current situation. Because there’s really something in a certain place wherever I traipse my two little itchy feet that makes me feel good, mollified and happy either alone or with friends.

image

Have I struggled in writing my first travel article?

Yes, I was genuinely struggling. Writing my first article to be published was a tangible challenge to me. I have a pile of questions, doubts that looming overhead, fears that trying to stop me and drag me to my sinking hole. I was looking at myself, saying I really can’t get to it. But my friend masterryo is pushing me to compose, he told me to write anything that’s on my mind and heart, your experience on your travel is what you’re going to share and not anybody’s travel experience. So then I encouraged myself to compose my first ever travel article, and with the help of masterryo I was able to publish my first travel article which was  “Salay Cave: The secluded destination in the south”.  You can check it out here. https://jauntingandmusing.wordpress.com/2015/04/25/the-secluded-salay-cave-in-alegria-cebu/

image

Did I meet HIATUS along the way?

Yes, we’re actually really close, we even became good friends. In good order after I published Salay Cave, I was on hiatus for 3 months. I stop writing, and I have devoted no attention to my website. 3 months after, I checked my website without expecting anything, I was precisely trying to check if my first article is still there. It alone proves that time that I’m not interested in blogging. The moment I log in to my site, I was in surprised that literally I forgot my password, right that moment I called masterryo if he could still remember my password, good thing he is smart enough to write it to his notes.

The password was traced back and I look into my website status how it works for 3 months of hiatus. I received notification, I got likes from other bloggers and I scan the comments on my first travel article. It was the time I was trying to recover myself from a long period of being un-progressive. And guess what? I resolved to continue travelling and share them through blogging.

image

Am I progressive after deciding to keep on my journey?

You’ll probably ask, what happened after I have decided to continue blogging and moving around. And  here’s what I’m dying to share with you, my few travels I had and also my experiences.

image

For the whole year of being a blogger, I started reaching what was penned on my bucket list.  Including the places I want to shoot the breeze and other goals that I want to achieve. My ever first reward, was when I was invited during the soft opening of the new and innovative version of Theme Park in IloIlo City owned by a Chinese couple from Australia. I was granted a chance to express myself through blogging my experience in the said Theme Park. You can check it out here. https://jauntingandmusing.wordpress.com/2015/10/05/funatix-fun-unlimited-natural-astounding-thrilling-intoxicating-and-xxxciting-site-in-ilo-ilo-city-philippines/

I was blessed to  have other invitations, freebies I received, and even a recognition given by my allies.  But what makes my blogging life more interesting and rewarding is when I spend time writing and sharing my experiences, either my experiences in my travels or my daily life encounters.

image

image

image

Will I still go along my journey to travel and  blog them also?

Yes, I will still extend my travel.  My goal to visit the 81 provinces in the Philippines is still what I’m going to achieve and blog them as well. I too plan to slowly travel outside the Philippines starting this year if God’s will.

Only before I end, first, I want to thank God for providing my needs on my travel and for the protection wherever I go and whatever I do. Second, I desire to thank masterryo for everything, for his support and un-ending word of encouragement. Third, I want to thank my friends, my other blogger friends who’s always sharing their experiences that inspires me to keep blogging. I’m so grateful to have you guys, for reading my blog, and commenting on it and likes as well, thank you so much guys. You all make the world meaningful and interesting by sharing all your sentiments and experiences through blogging.

Again, Thank you so much everyone for being with me for one year now  and I’m desiring to stay connected with you all for the coming years. God Bless us all!

Tears are also the voice communication and everyone understands.

It all gather within the box and when the box can’t handle what kept it being filled, everything that’s been placed inside was tardily spreading out and stretch each corner till it tears apart. The floor was flooded with unnoticed stuff, they’re all desperately placed on the floor, hoping and waiting that somebody will come along to pick them up and clean the mess they have caused.

I wasn’t aware that I look foolishly stupid inside  the jeepney (common public transportation in the Philippines). My tears were running through my face as if they have only had their freedom to show off. I was trying to be strong by not letting them out but they have insisted to pass out and I couldn’t restrain them. People around look at me, and I’m sure I have rendered them a blank face and keep them bothered by what they have witnessed. Right that moment, the pain is just so strong, I can’t fake myself and look so strong precisely because I won’t let people know how I felt that moment.

But I never regret that once in my life I look stupid and  suffered deep pain because  I love the person whom I believed would never give up no matter how hard the situation is. I know the pain that I’m experiencing right now would soon be gone, my lips will be painted with curve lines of happiness, and my eyes will soon be replaced with beautiful scenery. My thought will soon be filled with exciting things and my heart will also be filled with understanding, respect, hope, trust and of course love.

Whatever I’m going through now is entirely part of growing up, it’s all part of preparing myself for someone better. I won’t mess my life simply because someone left me in pain, but I instead pick myself up and take it positively to learn and grow. Life is beautiful, full of surprises, full of exciting things to experience and making good memories is always a safe and a good choice. Pain, rejection, failures and discouragements are all constituents of life, we can’t elude from them. They’re all part of what we called” Life cycles”.

I promise myself to go beyond limits, live the life I dream of,  because we will never grow up and learn, unless we try and keep straining for the better.

Happiness is not always loved in return, but also loving the un-loving, it is likewise a choice, you either take it or disregard it.

image

Your privacy is farther off than me.

Why does it have to be sooner?
When all I recalled of being forever
Should, I guessed that I’m no stranger.
Until I got up with a thought maybe its over?

I direct myself to a hope of longer.
And it goes back to what I hope for.
Happiness, fulfillment, care, respect
Trust and love were bound together.

Only time has changed and so have you.
I believed was just a challenged between me and you.
But it twists out a nightmare that runs through
And will remain a nightmare cause promises are gone too.

Everything has long been changed
The heart that loved has been shattered
We both have turned the love to hatred
And a promise of togetherness is now removed.

You choose to leave and opted your privacy than me
Which I thought you won’t pick out anything except me
I know we both not perfect and struggled a lot
But should we give up just because we can no longer fight?

But you have made your choice and I pass on the sack to no longer stop
I hope your privacy would give you infinite happiness that never break up.

I’m still here waiting, awaiting for your coming
But if you barely don’t come, I even marry you
When the promised of hope is new every morning.

Badian, Cebu Canyoneering: There is a hidden magical secret

Making it at the destination you have never planned is equally interesting than a well planned travel.

image

Photo Credit: Ian Limpangog of Freedom Wall

My cousin (Genelyn Wanan), unexpectedly asking me if I can bring her to some of the interesting and beautiful places in Cebu. Since I’m a traveler by nature, I usually don’t disapproved any invitation. Hence, I bought her an air ticket exactly on the day she’d informed me, from Gensan-Cebu and Cebu-Gensan as her return air ticket.

Canyoneering is creating a roaring sound not only in Cebu but all over the Country and even outside the Philippines. So by then, me and my cousin decided to taste the newest extreme adrenaline activities in Cebu.

Canyoneering or Canyoning in Badian, Cebu is an outside activity that means heading down to a canyon. That seems pretty simple right? Merely the act of moving through a canyon is more involved than you might think because Canyoneering can be done by not just getting down to a Canyons but through a variety of means such as trekking, diving, jumping, climbing, sliding and swimming. Does it sound easy now? Of course not, as this would require a great deal of courage and skills. But don’t worry having your guide to help you do this would always be a dandy thing.

image

This extreme adrenaline activities will usually last 3-5 hours depending on how many people you’re being with. And what makes it last for 5 hours is the unending searching for a good spot to have your selfie pictures and anything that seems good in your eyes. Apart from experiencing the whole frolic procedure, this is usually what we after for sometimes right? And who would have not love to capture every facial expression of your jump packed fear every time you jump along a high cliff and shout right? A rue on your part if you missed to capture every beautiful scenery  and of course we don’t want it that way, so just enjoy and take photographs as much as you can when you do Canyoneering.

image

image

Our Canyoneering adventure was handled by Localpages, an affiliate of Freedom Adventures Inc.
The minute we arrived at the Freedom Adventures Inc.        We were welcomed by such a refreshing grin of our guide named Maam Malaya. Our Canyoneering was supposed to start around 9am but since we came late, we started around 11:00am. Ate Malaya asked us to batten down the hatches, secure our things first, she then informed us that they have exclusive room to lay in our bags and other stuff. After putting on our rubber shoes, life jacket and helmet we immediately proceeded to the registration office and went straight to the actual jump off point of Canyoneering.

image

image

The feeling of seeing my crush during High School days was about the same feeling I got when we made our way to the mouth of Canyoneering. Shaken up, nervous, and the fear of heights is hovering above me. Then the most awaited time came, there has been already a group of  adventure seeker who started leaping out from the cliff and fallen off to the bluish cold water while yowling to death.  I was trembling in awe, and then my cousin. But before paying attention to my fear of heights, the unique form of canyon really caught my attention, it was really awesome, the sturdy downstream of water formed an astounding canyon that has perfect edges and bends of the crevice huge rock. The lagoon is having a touch of a bluish color, it was perfectly attractive.

image

Then our moment came, we had our short briefing and a prayer. The foremost challenge is leaping out  from the cliff that has 15 feet in height and fallen off to the deep cold lagoon. There’s also another 10 foot cliff to start with. But if you really can’t get hold of the two challenges, don’t worry because there’s an available route to go down.
I remember that I was next to the girl who’s shuddering on her knees, I really understood how the fear made her. But she was fearless enough to jump. Hence, I was next, I was in fear, but I couldn’t run away from my fear, so I breathe deeply and jump. I was drifting on the bluish cold water, yelling at my cousin trying to encourage her to give a try. I caught the sudden alteration of her normal skin color, she was in pale maybe because she was really afraid. After many times she attempted to jump, she was racing away from her fear, she instead takes the other route together with ate Malaya. “Breaking away the very first challenging jump means escaping jumping on the other cliffs”. But no pressure on that.

The next one was sliding with the cold water flowing down. Ate Malaya was not with me, but I saw some of the Canyoneers who were managing the next challenge. Since I’m used of facing challenging battles all alone, doing it wasn’t new to me (Hugot moment). I recall when I was young, sliding on a hilly surface is actually my favorite child escape. Soon enough, I was able to manage it.

image

My cousin and ate Malaya was  already on the rocky side, they were waiting for me at that place. But I couldn’t just leave without calling for pictures so I yelled at ate Malaya to go near and take pictures of me.

image

The challenging trek is inviting our knees, the huge rocks are situated at their own consolation. The water is extending over the crevice rock forming a small Cascades that are awesome to look at. At that place is also stunning  scenery that will surely mollify your jaded body and  pacify your shaking knees. The cooling water as it gently kissing your feet is really refreshing. The shades of  big trees that is yielding the perfect feeling of finally being at peace with nature is beyond compare. The lush scenery green forest on the side as you move your head up is surprisingly beautiful.

image

Then we go on our trek, there are not so challenging  cliffs and waterfalls that finally my cousin can try, no room for escape as her motto this time. Eventually, as we continue moving downward, we discovered a lot of beautiful scenery that even words could not define. I was really awestruck in awe with all the marvels of this place can offer.

image

Since we started late, we were a bit thirsty and hungry. It was around 2PM I guess when we came across the small lagoon as a  perfect place to commune with its stunning natural beauty. Me and my cousin had stopped for a moment and rest, it wasn’t crowded, in fact, it was only me, my cousin and ate Malaya who were at that place. Thus we take the chance of getting our best picture.

image

While we keep on our trek, I saw the big stalagmites sticking and hanging on a big elevated rock. It was amazing in its own innate state. I wonder how could this place is more beautiful than I expected to find out. Our God is truly amazing, isn’t  it?

image

Shortly enough, I smell something delectable that made me more hungry and so my cousin. I found out the scattered smokes coming from nowhere, and I was a bit curious what was it. Then I asked ate  Malaya where that smokes coming from because it smells something delicious. She then told me that there’s a food station over there where they sell barbecues and other food to nibble just to meet the famished stomach of every Canyoneering lover.

image

Hence we walked fast and climbed on a big rock before we could finally taste their barbecue. While we had our rest, we bought some barbecue to eat, ate Malaya told us that the cliff located few meters from where we stand is the last cliff and the highest cliff to conquer. Then I slowly move my two little itchy feet, trying to check how high is it. Then I resolved not to jump because it was really high.
The cliff has an elevation of 40 feet, but if you can’t beat the scary 40 feet you can try the 30 feet that is located nearby.

image

I wouldn’t mind considering myself as an unsuccessful Canyoneering trier since I wasn’t able to startle on the last cliff. I saw some who were able to jump, I wonder how it feels like to leap on a water from the highest cliff. But I was telling myself that better safe than never, the safest thought to elude from the backbreaking 40 foot cliff.

As we nearly, reach the end where we have to trek for 30 minutes going to  Kawasan Falls, I noticed another stalagmites that are beautifully hanging on an elevated curving surface while I passed on a canyon. It was as if I’m doing spelunking as well. Seeing them in their own natural state is truly astonishing to look at.

image

We have rested for a while and since we still have to walk for 30 minutes to reach at the third tier of Kawasan falls we go along our trek. While going on our way, I noticed the wooden crafted bridge that serves as our way to pass through the ravine. In that situation, I noticed that it’s really dry, I didn’t see any stream of water. And I was like how could it be? Where was the flowing water goes from the canyons? And then I threw a bunch of questions to ate Malaya but instead of giving me  an answer she was also looking like being mesmerized by such magical thing. She averred she was also struggling with that thought. Thither is the hidden magical secret that one must discover.

image

image

After the long trek, we eventually reached the third tier of Kawasan Falls, up to the second tier and finally arriving at the stunning first tier of Kawasan Falls.

image

We then have our late lunch at about 3:30PM,  it was still fresh in mind that we were very hungry. Then ate Malaya helped us to have our lunch, she served us a bowl of Sinagang na Baboy (Pork and vegetables in tamarind broth), good for 3 people, 2 pieces of fried chicken, one serve of wet noodles (Pancit), 3 cups of rice, and 2 bottle of 12 ounce soft drinks. Ending our Canyoneering with a delicious meal is the best means to celebrate.

The challenging Canyoneering had given me enough chance to know myself better than I knew I was. I didn’t know that I was capable to conquer my fear of heights even this has been my biggest fear since then. I should congratulate myself.

So then if you’re fond of adrenaline activities such as this, or you’re just new to this, you should never miss to try Canyoneering. There are more to see and discover with your naked eyes than what this blog could provide. Witness it by yourself and you’ll surely have your most frolic experience. This could be done with a group of friends, with your love ones,  family, and if you’re fond of travelling alone this could also be possible to experience.

image

Trying out canyoneering is a great choice, apart from places of great natural beauty, feature crevices, rivers and waterfalls, as a perfect recipe for adventure, but this has also obvious benefits like improving your health through adventuring the canyons and communing with mother nature.

Here are some matters to keep in mind when you do Canyoneering.

1. Don’t ever go Canyoneering alone. Wrong direction   of your feet could lead to bruises or anything that would cause you regret.
2. Make sure you stick to your guide’s instruction. Don’t create your own system, then follow.
3. Better halt the activities when the sudden rain arrives because the water can create fast currents that would result to dangerous situation.
4. Hypothermia can be a real risk. If you’re the person who’s  not used of staying long in a cold water for too long, then you better wear wetsuits and pay attention to your body’s response.
5. Put on your life jacket, as many parts of the river are seriously deep.
6. Wear a protective helmet. You’re required to climb boulders, jumping from heights, swimming under rock outcroppings, you might guess that this is sound unnecessary but you need a helmet to protect your head.
7. Wear your rubber shoes for you have to intersect over the crevice rocks and the river.
8. Bring enough water, and make certain to have your stomach filled before doing Canyoning because Canyoneering will last 3-5 hours of real challenge.
9. Bring your waterproof camera, Go Pro, or any gadgets that are waterproof. Bringing your DSLR is not advisable.
10. Above all PRAY before doing Canyoneering for God’s guidance and protection.

Just had a bad dream

A kind of dream that is baffling and bothering me a lot. A sudden movement of silence early in the morning, the cloying sound of morning species was all I heard. A sound of howling wilderness to a roaring success. I recall those days, I settle upon how could things appear to be so obvious when I never thought it could lead to something redoubtable like a peevish child asking for pacification.

Tardily closing my eyes, attempting to figure out how could that dream so aggravating. Why does it have to be afflicted deeply like the afflictive disease that demands an urgent cure.

If ever those things will adhere, I hope I’m ready enough to confront it. I am hoping in between, for matters that will help us to become stronger like a sturdy wall that’s hard to crack. And for matters that would feed us enough courage to overcome every struggle that will come our way. The cynical thoughts may always seem like a pendulum swing that always looming overhead, but I know this won’t be something real to be afraid of.

I hope the light that we both have seen will help us find the right way. To walk together, sharing dreams together and obtaining peace from each other that would definitely bind us together. Because the peace that we find from each other will help us realize who we are in the past and what would we become in the future.

Casaroro Falls: A stunning beauty in its pantomime narrowness.

Every waterfalls have different features, they induce a variety of unique beauty and they have their own style of captivating the eyes of  every traveler and even those who love natures.

image

Casaroro Falls is nestled in the lush scenery green mountains in the town of Valencia, Negros Oriental. It is alleged to be the most photographed waterfall in the entire Negros province, with its genuine natural beauty and charm. It is situated 9.4 Kilometers west of Dumaguete City.

image

A truly one of the hidden Gem of Negros Oriental. With its innate beauty, a lot of  adventure seeker and nature lover have been drawn in and fell in love. Despite of steep trails, tourists would still consider Casaroro falls as a must-visit destination.

Prying the whereabouts of Negros Oriental right after we arrived in the City of Gentle People. (Damaguete City) Was what brought us to the lofty and awesome Casaroro Falls with my cousin (Genelyn Wanan).

Looking the best place to stay in Dumaguete City has never been that hard because they have a lot of affordable hotels and pension house that are really easy to find. We arrived late at night and soon enough we were able to get an affordable pension house to stay. Since we have travelled a bit far, getting a good rest is a good thought.
This travel of us seemed to be more exciting than our usual visit. Maybe because me and my cousin have just joined together for the very first time in this unplanned travel of us.

And so came the defining moment of our sojourn to Casaroro Falls. While on our way, I saw a lot of Lanzones trees that are scattered around, I was then thinking, I have missed the Lanzones farm on Camiguin Island, where they produced the sweetest Lanzones fruits in the country during my visit, but seeing the lanzones trees in Valencia would have been lessened my regret  since I missed it on Camiguin Island. It could have been great if I could able to regard the fruits hanging on its tree.

image

It happened on our way we saw some of the tourist attractions in the town of Valencia. Isla Del Rio and the The forest camp.

image

image

I saw a river that drew me more excited to see the Casaroro falls, I knew then that we’re almost there.

image

At long last, we arrived at the entrance going to the falls, we paid PHP10 for the entrance and writing down our name for the registration. I immediately noticed the big signage of Casaroro falls.

image

My cousin and I haven’t had any idea what would have been awaiting for us in Casaroro Falls. We both didn’t know that we have to take the 300 plus steps going down before we could able to see the sensational beauty of Casaroro waterfalls.

image

image

I went down first and finding out my cousin  struggling on her way down is something I could laugh at. And hence I did (non-stop evil laugh).  I was excited going down, in no time I finished the 300 plus steps, I heard the streaming water gently running through the big rocks making a gurgling sound. I’m a bit dismayed, because I guessed the moment I overcome the 300 plus steps the next would have been seeing the falls already. I met  two couples who earned their way back to the entrance, so I assumed maybe they have seen the falls already. And so I asked them, hello good morning, how’s the falls? They smiled at me and said we were struggling on our way there, we determined to go back because we saw the signage saying “danger” I was like, what the hell? How hard could that be?  They said we do not know. So I halt for a minute and wait for my cousin and our motorcycle driver as happened to be our tour guide also. While they haven’t made it yet, I decided to just take pictures of the streaming water with a positive thought that there’s a way going to the falls.

image

image

image

At last my cousin came and our driver, I immediately asked our driver, is there really way going to the falls?  He said of course YES! Then I discovered the old hanging concreted path that have been dilapidated and in ramshackle condition. I called for our driver again,  What happened to all these? Was there a good way to the falls before?  He graciously said yes. This was hit by the great flood during the typhoon Sendong last  December 2011. (Sorry to hear about it).

image

Hence we continue our trek going to the falls, it was really challenging because you have to pass through the big rocks and cross the river. What captivated my attention was the big rocks. It appeared to be like they’re growing every year because they’re really huge.

Soon enough I heard the bellowing sound of Casaroro waterfalls as if the sound is making a sibilant voice saying come closer and get in touch at my unique beauty. I couldn’t wait to see it, the closer I get to the falls, the excitement feeling is becoming more real. Viewing it from afar, standing astoundingly at the height of 100 feet, the water plunges into a greenish deep cold catching basin, then flow downstream to the fissure huge rocks that creates a wonderful river. What fascinated me was the narrowness of its pantomime natures beauty. It’s far from the other cascades that I have seen already.

image

image

During our visit, it wasn’t crowded, in fact, it was just me and my cousin and of course our driver who were there. So we owned it for 30 minutes I guessed. We commune with its natural beauty, and looking for a good spot to get pictures. What makes our journey to Casaroro waterfalls feels more fun was that, we can do whatever we want, posing anything we like and caring no one to see us.

image

Only after we have enjoyed the awesome Casaroro falls, there were two couples who have just set their foot of the falls so maybe it’s about time to leave and let them enjoy the falls too. Soon enough, we left the falls with so much felicity.

image

Going back was still a back breaking challenged for us, we still have to pass through the big crevices rocks and overcome the 300 plus steps going up. But Since we have re-charged on ourselves, this time wouldn’t be that challenging. I caught the grin from my cousin’s face, I know deep within us that we  both have been satiated.

Reminder:
“Leave only footprints, take only pictures, no graffiti! No litter “.

How to get to Casaroro Falls:
You can book a flight going to Dumaguete City, since Dumaguete City is the entry point. The minute you arrived in Dumaguete City go straight to the jeepney terminal. From terminal ride Jeepney going to Valencia, Negros Oriental, the fare is PHP13. The travel time is about 15-20 minutes. From Valencia town proper you can hinge on a motorbike (Habal-Habal)  going to the drop off point of Casaroro Falls. The fare is PHP200 back and forth. Your motorcycle driver can also be your tour guide since the trail leading to the falls has been off the beaten path, (Don’t forget to apply your tips).

What to bring with you:
Please don’t forget to bring your water. And since you have to cross with the immense rocks and river you need to wear your rubber shoes
