Just figuring things out.

70 days have gone by, the remarkable day just came at my door. I can’t precisely elucidate how my inner being consumed me. I asked myself, will you be able to contend everything? Are you ready and sure of this? I slowly crawl back to the memories, I tend not to express how it slowly made me outside. Breathing deep, trying to hoist the remaining strength I have and wherever this decision leads me, I’m more than ready.

image

It hits back and form squares on my  face, I was attempting to reform my face by simply controlling the feeling. I thought I almost touch the end of the bridge until I figured out, I was not even starting to cross the bridge. Then here I am, like a colorful balloon floating in the air, waiting for the direction of the wind. Waiting for the right spot, a place where  I can comfortably arrived. Wishing to be picked up and can bring me back to the place where I belong.

Will I just keep figuring things out? Will I be just hiding in my sinking hole? Will I be comfortable to stay inside the barred cell?  Will I be able to get my inner strengths to walk along this journey? But of all the questions looming overhead, one thing I’m sure of, I am not lost, I am just finding back who I was and who I am in the future.

Sickness does travel too, it arrives without permission, and it leaves without saying goodbye.

It’s not that you’re feeble when you badly need someone to take care of you when you’re in morbid condition. Your nipping to death as if the bucket cold water slowly pouring  on your body. The return influences of coldness  became the hottest you felt. It’s like putting yourself in a hot pot and the water is slowly boiling. You precipitately hoisted to unknown place, you were being gripped by a sturdy metal hook and baited for a moment. You slowly fell into deep sleep, mowed down by a high temperature. You desire to wake up and get some food but you can’t move and stretch your hands. The muscles are in deep pain, you can’t breathe well, a tiny red scar is all over your skin, itchy and smarting.

image

The clouds travel, they collide to produce a bunch of clouds and united to produce rain. The rain fall down, run into me hard and brought me sickness that gives story to remember and lesson to learn. When rainfall arrives, don’t dance with it, but instead sing with a melodic phrase that it brings.

This malady has been visiting me since the very first day of this month of June and lasted almost two weeks and finally bid goodbye. And here it is again, trying to overrun me and knock me down. This won’t last, this will only stay for days and will leave. Sickness does travel too, it arrives without permission, and it leaves without saying goodbye. Every one of us experienced this, and every illness we felt leaves stories and lessons. Let us always take good care of ourselves, because Health is Wealth.

I wonder about this one, sickness is visiting me once or twice a twelvemonth, and it usually occurred in the month of June since 2011.

How about you folks? What’s your story when you get sick?

Mantayupan Falls: Falling in love with its picturesque scenery.

With relatively high rainfall, broken and mountainous terrain, Cebu has many waterfalls. They have long been ranked as among its most impressive tourist destinations. Many are in a picturesque scene and creating their own image in accordance to their uniqueness, style and beauty. An innate looks that will surely captivate someone’s eye and help someone’s desire to acquire peace and tranquility.

image

I’m falling in love to this falls, because today, as I set foot on this majestic cascade, it is not my first time. I’ve been here for 4 times already and today it’ll be my 5th time. I was not yet a blogger during those times, and since I want to take in another fresh experience of Mantayupan falls, I decided to get my not so hefty bag and bring my two little itchy feet and traipse here for the 5th time.

Mantayupan Falls is situated in the town of Barili, Cebu. It is located 61 kms away from Cebu City and almost two hours of travel time. Historically, the town’s name Barili derived from the word Balili, a kind of grass growing in the vicinity.

image

Upon making it at the town of Barili, I immediately took a Habal-Habal (motorcycle)  going to Mantayupan Falls. The Falls is 4 kilometers away from the town proper and 10-15 minutes drive. Mantayupan falls has been I guess one of the most accessible falls that I have been to, because the road giving way to the falls is concreted and I have loved the stunning view while I’m making my way to the falls.

My driver told me that there’s a Tilapia Fishing Village and Restaurant just before getting to the waterfalls. Safe in his mind that he’s speaking to a first timer, which I guess I appreciate his willingness to introduce what his town can offer to the travelers like me. He must be very proud of his demesne. The Tilapia Fishing Village and Restaurant offer dining, pond fishing, swimming pool, cottages, horseback riding, and overnight accommodations. The place also offers an array of Tilapia menu’s that will certainly satiate your craving.

image

My long delay is over and I’m happy to finally set foot on this place for the 5th time. Mantayupan falls is nestled at the foot of Barili’s sprawling mountains and peacefully situated in the lush scenery green forest. I forthwith went to the first falls trying to grab the chance since it wasn’t that crowded. In fact, it was just me and my two little itchy feet who’s enjoying the place. The first tier is 14 meters high tiered waterfalls, splitting together and formed three layers which looks like they’re being disunited. After several shots taken, I gave way to the second falls which would only take me 5-minutes of walk.

image

image

The second level is the 98 meters high cascading falls that create a thundering roar as it plunges from its peak to its wide catchment basin. It is alleged to be the tallest waterfalls in the province of Cebu. The second tier provides the atmosphere with a cooling mist, bluish green water, divulging its stunning natural beauty to every traveler, and showing its unspoiled environment and deserves a visit even for a short period of time.

image

image

Aside from Mantayupan falls, a comforting BolocBoloc spring slowly spreading its name to every traveler due to its clear water and soothing ambiance. It has two swimming pools containing fresh water and smothered with green trees on both sides. But what captured every traveler and tourist to visit this place is the Mineral Hot Spring. It has Sulfuric water-fed swimming pool that can cure skin ailments and a sound remedy for your tiring body.

How to get Mantayupan Falls

Take the Ceres Bus going to Bato-Barili route from South Bus Terminal in Cebu City. It is 1hour and 30 minutes drive if it’s not traffic in the city area. The first trip is 5AM for the aircon bus, for the non-aircon bus the earliest trip is 2AM.

Traveler tips:
* If you’re going to Mantayupan Falls on weekends, I would suggest you better proceed to South Bus Terminal 30 minutes before the scheduled trip to avoid crowds of passengers.
* Inform the Bus conductor to drop you off at the jump-off point to Mantayupan Falls.
*The mandatory Bus stop is at Shamrock Center.
*It is better to arrive at the falls as early as you can so you would owned the place and no photo-bombers.
*don’t take the last trip Bus from Samboan at 7pm going back to Cebu city  so you won’t suffer to stand inside the Bus. Expect traffic as you nearly reach the City proper from 6pm to 8pm. I recommend taking the earlier trip is better.

Travel Expenses:

(Note I give an additional PHP 50 since I asked the motorcycle driver to bring me to Boloc-Boloc Spring)

Pulangbato Falls: Spreading out its unique and extra special beauty.

Finding out some words sometimes will catch our attention. We then want to personally know what fixed the name of certain things becoming their real name.

image

Pulangbato Falls is one of the most visited secluded falls in the province of Negros Oriental. It is located in the Ocoy Valley in the town of Valencia, Negros Oriental. A cascade that blessed with serene and refreshing waters that pours down into a reddish water catching basin. With its breezy and tranquil environment, every adventure seeker would love to drench their jaded body and would fall in love to its innate beauty. The lulling sound that will appease the stress life in the bustling City.

image

The road going to Pulangbato Falls is truly an escapade. You’ll see rivers, rocks that are unique in color and physique. You’ll as well be fascinated of the smoky mountains due to the presence of sulfur in the place.

image

As we nearly reach to Pulangbato Falls, we were welcomed by a smell of sulfuric steam coming out of the mountains creating mini clouds on the side of the road. Me and my cousin decided to come down from the motorcycle and starting to get the best pictures as much as we can. I’m a naturally curious nomad in almost everything, and then I decided to climb on the folds of rocks and trying to dance with the smoky mountain while disregarding the strong smell of the sulfur fumes.  On that place, I am also starting to notice the red and orange rocks scattered in the river as it gives me the exciting feeling to finally seeing the promising Pulangbato falls.

image

image

image

Soon enough we arrived at the Red Rock Spring Resort where the Pulangbato Falls is located, we were greeted by the fresh breeze coming from the mountains. I now heard the sweet voice of Pulangbato Falls as the water flows down to it’s catching basin coming from the lush green mountains. The area has rentable thatched cabanas open for day trippers. I as well noticed the concreted natural pool located right in the heart of the resort.

image

But what we came here for is to experience the enticing beauty of Pulangbato Falls, my cousin and I was very excited to finally meet the falls. Only a few meters walk, the stunning beauty of Pulangbato Falls invited us to come closer and enjoying its natural beauty. The name itself, Pulangbato Falls is indeed reddish in the shade. But when you’re attempting to look at it, you’ll soon realize that the color of the rocks is becoming orange than red maybe because of the reflection of the sunlight during our visit.

image

The vividness of the water really caught my attention as it happens to be appearing so unique and extra special. The reflection of the red rocks plays a bigger role in the beauty of Pulangbato Falls.
The place exudes a feeling of communing with nature because of the grown trees and wild plants that provides dense foliage.

image

Only after seeing the Pulangbato Falls, I didn’t know that there’s another cascade seated on the right side before reaching the Pulangbato Falls. At the first tier, the cascade begins narrowly and widens progressively as the waters flow down. Seeing it afar, the waterfalls look like triangular in form.

image

What makes Pulangbato Falls feels unique from many other waterfalls that I’ve been to is the seemingly red river water, which caused by the presence of natural red rocks and red layered structured found in the area. The local people say that the coloration is due to the presence of sulfur in the expanse. The sulfur or iron minerals have the natural reaction with water and that cause the rocks turned to red. Our driver, Kuya Rhengie told us that the rocks are yellow in color when dry and getting red when wet, isn’t it interesting?

image

Some other thing that amazed me is when our driver told us that the citizens here are receiving free electricity because of the Geothermal Power Station operated by the  Energy Development Corporation sited in the town of Valencia. It generates electricity that supplies the needs of Negros, Panay and some part of Cebu. And so I begin to wish if only I could experience the free electricity in our house, it’ll be something awesome and indeed a big savings for me.

But before heading back to Dumaguete City, near the entrance of Red Rock Spring Resort has some available food to nibble, we decided to buy some so we won’t starve along our way back to Dumaguete City.

image

I called for one girl whose in charge of collecting entrance fees if they have flyers or contact numbers on that place, but she said they don’t have one. But don’t worry, no demand to book before going here, they’re open every day.

Reminder:
“Leave only footprints, take only pictures, no graffiti! No litter “.

Why you should celebrate and be happy while you’re still SINGLE.

I invariably find people who consider and view “in a relationship” as the best part of life. But they never crossed to a thought that being single is always a genuine chance to be productive and emancipating times of life.

image

This blog post does not mean demeaning those that are in relationship status. I even look up to those who can handle their relationship even hard situations may have tried to break it, but as sturdy as the foundation of the building made them secure and continue to fight for they know love always wins.

Some would eventually consider and truly believe that there’s no possibility of happiness because the status that says I’m single is a sure mark of being unhappy. You actually only set yourself up for disappointment, pain, and the unescapable of entering unhealthy relationship. If you drive yourself to the limits because you are eager to enter into in a relationship status, the relationship you eventually enter won’t last and you’re going to spiral down and that’s hard.

I constantly hear people say  being single is the most loneliness, drudging, ill-fated, unsound and reprehensible part of their life as I once believe too. But we frequently forget that it is the perfect time to allow ourselves to experience so much about life. It can be the most awesome, magical and wonderful time of your aliveness.

Below are the list of reasons why you should be glad and celebrate your life as a single.

You can just do whatever you want.

We are all given the chance to execute the things we want in life, but doing whatever we want only comes when we are single. Come to think of your desires, something you really want from the very start, something you have long been dreaming to achieve, but you simply can’t find the right time when to start and how to attain it. The best time to collide with those goals is now that you’re officially single. So starting today, grant yourself the chance to figure out what you really want and pursue them.

It’s about time to rivet on your goals and aspirations.

We all have goals and dreams to achieve, but we barely can’t find the right reasons to establish them into reality. Because our focus has been snatched from us and has been cast in the barred cell of this thought “Relationship goals”. Why not yield yourself a genuine chance to also focus on your own “goals”. Why not consider planning,  hold action, be motivated and achieved those goals that has long been penned on your bucket list. I’m not stating it is not good to aim for “relationship goals” there’s nothing wrong about that. What I have in mind is, considering your own goals and later on the right person will come and you’ll share your goals and dreams with that right person.

It’s about time to recognize more about yourself what you can do and what you can still do.

Isn’t it awesome when you get the chance to know yourself and start rebuilding the remaining pieces after your painful past relationship? When you only recall about your goals and dreams and nothing else? Loving yourself for who you are and not what people require you to be. It is the fourth dimension where you can embrace and enjoy the sweetness of freedom. There may be still special gifts that have been kept deep in your existence and remain undiscovered. And as soon as you come to know more yourself, you’ll be amazed of what you can do and what you can still do. So be excited to embrace yourself, and this may be the chance and time as a big turning point in your lifetime.

It is such a good sound to enjoy life without “calling for permission”.

To be respected, you likewise have to respect. Exactly like any intimate relationships, we always have to ask permission every time we want to do something as a sign of respect to our better half. Like going out with friends, attending parties, and many others. It is then a dependable way to  maintain the harmonious relationship between you and your better half. Simply enjoying life without needing permission to anyone is, I guess sound cool, right? I know we all have been dreaming to experience freedom in anything we do, so if happen you’re still single now, you better enjoy and use your freedom in your own way but in a right way.

It’s the best time to spend quality time with your family.

Consider it or not, your family is your Gem. No matter what happened, they will always be your kin. If you hold a good paying job, or even not that much, take them out, treat them and bring them on a short vacation. The curved lines painting their face, is a sure happiness that is always beyond compare. Your family will appreciate the small things you do. I recognize there are many ways to make them happy, prepare their food, talk with them, watching movies together over a home made snacks. This will always something better than spending your time with somebody you’re not bound to forever.

It’s the best time to build good memories with your friends, make and meet new friends.

Making good memories with your friends are always great. Your true friends are your next Gem after your family. Go out with them, know them deeply by spending good time together. Constitute a “friendship goals” build trust, be loyal, be faithful, respect and love them for they will genuinely treat you back with the genuine reasons to do the same. We are all travelling  in a different route it may either straight, curves, and zigzag roads. We are also destined to meet dissimilar  people, make friend, share your authentic grin, be good and be a help and inspiration to the people you share the road with.

“You can’t stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.” – A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh.

It’s about time to be productive in your preferred career.

Relationships won’t transform you into interesting person that is filled with unparalleled abilities to be successful in your chosen passage. I habituated to believe that having someone to be “in a relationship”  with would somehow make me more interesting and be successful. Which I think will work in some ways, but hey, wake up from your catnapping moment. The truth is, you’re carrying your own work load on your shoulders, whether you’re single or otherwise. You can do things on your own, you were once having served it so just continue what you have started. Set out to deep dive on subjects you really enjoyed and love the most as it will love you back and may lead you to succeed in your chosen career.

It’s about time to go out of your comfort zone, travel, explore the world and go beyond the limits.

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” Saint Augustine

Never allow yourself to be disappointed by the things you didn’t do which you should have done while you’re still single. The best time to add an extra color in your life’s journey is when you chose to get your backpack and be lost in a one place where everyone consider you as strangers. Trust me, you’ll discover more about yourself by doing that. You’ll find out the other side of yourself when you travel and immerse yourself in nature. So what are you waiting for then? Plan your next trip and wander as much as you can.

Spend quality time with God.

Human as we are, and considering ourselves as “single” we all have battles with loneliness at some point. Sometimes we go through something hard that we don’t believe anyone else can understand. We also go through a change in life where we can feel so alone and we can’t think of anyone to share our sentiments with. God’s Word provides hope and strength every bit we come nearer to Him each day. Our sufferings, pains, frustrations, and all the burdens that makes us weak will all be diminished as we trust Him to help us get out of all these and start a fresh life with Him. God is someone who is closer than a brother and is always with you, a friend and a comforter.

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

I hope I have made my single friends out there to have their reasons to be happy and just enjoy their life. There are many fish in the sea, play and have fun. To my friends who nevertheless want to pursue their relationship, it’s not bad at all to do so. Hold the love burning and fight your love for someone who also fight their love for you.

To my single friends, run on for a date, but don’t expect each date will lead to “the one”. Learn to hold your dates under observation first.. The right one will enter your life when you’re not having a bun in the oven and you’ll know the right one when it happens.

Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park: The cloistered natural beauty that provides tranquility.

What I love about seeing nature’s wonder is the  unexplained feeling that it passes on to me. Acquiring peace from our inner self when we are out of nowhere is really hard, but when we commune with our mother nature, we will always get the peace of mind that we have longed for. It’s not that we totally evade from the realness of life because that’s our real world, but at least we give ourselves a chance to see the world in other perception. There are always more beneficial ways to celebrate life than resolving on our comfort zone. And that is something we should constantly learn, because life is not about duplicating the things that we already used to but somehow doing the things that are new to us.

Balinsasayao Twin Lakes

A natural wonders of Negros Oriental that is shrouded in the lush scenery green mountains of Sibulan, It is located just a few kilometers away from the town of Dumaguete City. The awesome paradise of Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park has been possibly the most visited natural wonder in the entire Negros Oriental Province. It is, without question the must-visit tourist destination that one can never miss to explore.
The twin lakes are two small crater lakes disunited by a retentive and not wide, elongated ridge in a void space wreathed by four different Mountains facing the west, east, north and the south. They are situated along the easterly part of the Talinis mountain range, which are volcanic in origin.

image

Coming up on an aberrant bandwagon of life was what brought my two little itchy feet on this secluded destination. I’ve been to Negros Oriental province remarkably in Dumaguete City several times, possibly because there’s something in the “City of Gentle people” that  invariably makes me  wanted to go back. And that is because I haven’t explored much of the natural tourist destinations of Negros Oriental.

They said going to places you’ve never been is the most exciting thing you could ever have, and barely so when me and my cousin decided to visit  Balinsasayao Twin Lakes was really exciting. I actually never got a line of lakes that are twin, so it was exactly what caught my attention.

image

Since the common transportation going to secluded destinations in the Philippines is Habal-Habal (Motorcycle). Me and my cousin ride a Habal-Habal going to Balinsasayao Twin Lakes. According to our driver (Kuya Rhengie), a few years ago the road giving way to twin lakes was not yet concreted. A lot of travelers before who really challenged from steep trails leading to the twin Lakes. Thus then I imagined how jouncy the ride was, how those travelers would able to manage the 13.5 kilometers of rides going to the Lakes.

But every bit they said there’s no steep trails for adventure seekers, it’s actually what adventure all about.

While we made our way to the Twin Lakes, I saw an elongated ridge that is peacefully situated on its own innate state. Kuya Rhengie told me that the Mountain I have seen was actually where the Twin lakes is located. So my excitement sprung up and I couldn’t wait to see it with my naked eyes. It was too hot during our visit, because the road going to the Lakes is facing the vast Island of Negros and juxtaposed to the Island of Cebu. Soon enough we arrived at the registration area, where we have to pay our entrance fee including the motorcycle (Habal-Habal).

image

From the entryway, it was a steep trail due to the hilly road going to the lake. Carrying two passengers on a motorcycle is not advisable, so I suppose I have to apply the quotes that says “sacrifice oneself so others can ride”. Precisely, I went down from the motorcycle and I let my cousin enjoy the ride and I started to walk, up until the motorcycle can carry two passengers again. Soon enough, we have officially set down on the main entrance where we have to walk again going to the welcoming mouth of the twin lakes.

image

The long awaited time has arrived. I was awestruck in awe as I have seen the clean, serene, fresh and cooling breeze of an air coming from the peaceful lake and the perennial plant that are stunningly standing beside the lakes, with their elongated stem with a well formed branches and the leaf sways whenever the wind blows.

image

I was standing on a rock facing the lake, communing with mother nature as I have talked to her and said you’re just so beautiful  no matter what they say.
Merely a question slowly crawling to my mind and says, where is the other lake?  Hence, I found out some tourist who’s riding a boat going to the other lake and I see it, not challenging, but it’s a way far easy and of course a cool way of grabbing the chance to finally feel the essence of floating on a lake. But an adventure seeker like me, I took the other way, I got to touch the other lake with an extra challenge where I can exude clear liquid from my sweat glands.

image

At 900 meters rocky trail was eventually the exact choice if happen you wish to hold a real adventure. The trail has a banister on a right side where the color of it is resembled to the big elongated stem of the trees. Leading to the second lake is fun, you’ll see the different forest species like birds, butterflies, ants and many others. You’ll also discover the toilet on a forest in which I thought was just a piece of design but turned out an interesting thing.

image

image

image

image

It was indeed a real adventure as my sweat is slowly coming out from my skin. We keep on our trek until we could finally reach the second lake. I immediately noticed the 3 storey viewing deck that offers the panoramic vista of the twin lake. We then take hold of the chance to go on the upper viewing deck to see the innate beauty of the lakes from above. The cold breeze kissing my surface and  I think it is the best time to have our rest after our long trek. The second lake is fenced in by different green trees and plants and it is deeper than the first lake. According to kuya Rhengie our driver, who happens to be our guide also, he said that no one have had ever reached the underside of the lake because it is too deep.

image

image

Afterwards on, our short rest, I finally went down to get closer to the second lake. I saw the large trunk of the trees that has been peacefully lying down for I guessed quite long already. It serves to be the bridge if you bid to get closer to the lake. After taking pictures and communing with its beauty I decided to go back and look for my cousin and our driver since it was only me who went down to the second lake.

image

Another backbreaking 900 meters of trek going back to the first lake had challenged my two little itchy feet. Only when we almost reached where have get started, I saw a perfect spot to climb on a tree and had my signature pose facing the calm lake. I called my cousin’s attention if she could get a picture of me standing on a trunk of the tree. Good thing she’s kind enough to say yes to my plea. We keep on our trek and soon enough we have made it up to the main entrance of the lake.

image

At the main entryway, there’s a viewing deck, a beanery and a souvenir shop. Hence we decided to have our rest, have some refreshments and my cousin bought some souvenir items.

image

image

image

Another fun filled day for us, we wish to stay more, but we sustain to leave to visit other tourist attractions in Negros Oriental. The “Pulang Bato Falls”. I’ll post on my blog soon.

But before we made our way back to Dumaguete City, I wonder how could it be if I tried to swim in the lakes? I’m sure the water is frigid because of green trees nearby and will surely pacify my jaded body. But in whatever case, I won’t dare to swim in the lakes. It is more than enough that I conform to them both.
