CATHAY PACIFIC: How Does It Feel Like To Take Flight With The WORLD’S best AIRLINE?

There was a difficulty of evading fear, but  the humble sound of comfort hovering above me, a feeling that I’m trying to accommodate as I’m trying to understand with all its weight, defying gravity and how the left and the right wing manage of staying aloft. I was taking my backpack with a question and a picture of the future painted on the back of my brain. Does it safe to think and guess what would happen inside?  I learn to trust and gave my trust once more without doubts forming inside me. It is like offering my life to the stranger with a risk I know I should weigh, but life is about taking risks to appreciate and take in the beauty of what real life is all about.

I stepped to its door while the sudden alteration of the winds slowly revealing while confidently touching my surface. I was greeted by the comforting smile of a pretty flight attendant as if she’s trying to convey the idea of ensuring my safety and  a comfort while on board. I smile back with a hope and a tiny sound of beseech forming inside me as I’m hoping to get to my destination safe and sound.

I was slowly walking to an aisle while looking for my seat number. It wasn’t truly synch with a thought that I’m finally inside the airplane, I saw different faces as they respectively represent their own races. The environment altered like how an unpredictable weather changes.

I pass by a far different world within the airplane, the first class which is occupied by elite people, the business class, Premium Economy class and the Economy class which was what I had. The Economy class is situated in the surcease part of the plane. The world I’m currently embracing at that moment has never been existed in my extensive dream. Inside the plane, it owns a 3 row with 3 seats each row. I had confidently taken a deep breathe while preparing for the take off. Each seat has its own monitor television entertainment where you can choose from movies, TV, music, games and publications which would keep you entertained while being on board and that drudging feeling you’ll possibly get while flying will never happen when you’re flying with Cathay Pacific. Apart from owning a monitor television entertainment, they as well provide a headphone for you to enjoy watching movies and listening to your favorite music. When you feel like you want to hug someone cause you are cold enough to make it as a reason, don’t worry cause they provide a jacket while on board.

The sudden enticing smells touching my nose without calling its attention, but I couldn’t help not to observe, so I saw the cabin crew seems to be busy preparing for dinner. I haven’t had any experience having my meal while on board so I’m a bit excited not because I’m hungry, but the notion of having your dinner while on board is something new to me. The defining moment came, the cabin crew had asked me what would I want for dinner, a signature noodle or the oriental chicken? I’m a kind of person who never said no when chicken is being offered. The oriental chicken tasted really delicious which comes with veggies and fruit. What I also love about Cathay Pacific is serving unlimited drinks, from carbonated drinks and juices to their signature wine which you can always ask from their flight attendant. I’ve tasted their Ginger ale, which is really good, I’ve had apple juice and requested for wine after dinner.

The whole time I was flying with Cathay Pacific was a memorable experienced. The cabin crews always pay attention to my request. They are friendly and always guarantee your safety. A world class airline with a world class service. No wonder they have been recognized anywhere in the world. Assuring the comfortable flying experience while on board without leaving you hungry and being entertained.

  1. Hey, congratulations on your first flight overseas! Seems like you had a great time. I mostly ride on PAL or Qantas depending on where I’m going and the current rates, but I sadly can’t remember the feelings I got during my first out of country travel. I was around 7 that time, ahaha. I just love going on planes though. There’s this sense that you’re home while you’re not, and the flight attendants are always cheerful and ready to help.

  2. I’m happy for you that you had a pleasant trip and that it was also sponsored. I don’t remember taking Cathay Pacific yet in any of my flights. I usually took PAL. Sometimes, I take Cebu Pacific. There were also seats with their own tv monitors and earphones in some planes.

  3. Cathay Pacific has been said to be one of the best airlines. I have flown with them too and I can definitely say their service is at par with the world’s best. But to truly know how good they are is how they handle unforseen situations.

    Let me illustrate.

Once my flight got cancelled. Everything was messed up. I have a connecting flight from HK to Shanghai and I missed that because of Ondoy. Our airport here has no electricity, the airport was crowded, it was hard to breathe. Anyway, several hours later when power was restored, I finally got on my flight to HK.

As soon as the plane took off, I felt I was taken care of. I had explained that I missed my connecting flight. What did the crew do? They coordinated everything for me that when I disembarked in HK, Cathay Pacific staff was there waiting for me to assist me on getting on my next flight. How about that?

    • Hello Sir Robert,
      Thank you for dropping by.
Wow, who would have thought they offered such services? Yes, Cathay Pacific is really the best and I don’t think other airlines would do that with what you have received. You seemed to be real special at that moment, how we wish other airlines would do the same. Anyway, I’m happy you were handed a good helped during your unseen adversities.

  4. Honestly, i have never been to a plane so I am not really aware how it feels like and I even don’t know how to react if I will ride a plane for the first timer. My dad however, has been traveling overseas for work and I’m sure he had been to Cathay Pacific too ( i remember my dad brought us some items with the companies logo on them hahaha)

  5. Very nice! My father uses Cathay Pacific whenever he travels overseas. Their service has always been impeccable, and it has become even better with advancements in technology. Hope we could also get the chance to be sponsored for an international trip. 🙂

  6. Wow, first time outside out of the Philippines? That’s awesome. Cathay Pacific seems like an amazing airline. I love the monitors in every seat! And the overall service also seems to be like it should be, safe and pleasant. I hope to see some more overseas trips very soon! 🙂

    Thanks for sharing

  8. I don’t know if I will ever take Cathay to go to HK because it is too expensive for big families to go together. I have heard the good word about this airline, but I am also very conscious of expenses. You are so lucky. – Fred

  9. Flying is such a great experience. To be honest, my best experience was with Emirates. I flew three times business class with them and that was amazing. I flew one time business class with Qatar airways and that was a little bit less great. Overall a good airline can make a big difference in your flight experiences!

  10. I’m glad you had a great time on board, Padz. 🙂

My dad has always told me about his experiences with Cathay Pacific. He told me that CP has never failed to impress him eventhough he had boarded other big airlines. I wish to try them soon when I’ll get the chance to travel outside the country.

  11. I haven’t tried flying via Cathay Pacific but have heard several positive stories from friends as well. If there’s a sale ongoing or a large discount, then we’ll probably consider also taking it.

  12. I haven’t flown with Cathay Pacific yet. I hadn’t heard any stories about it until now. The plane looks very nice. To have a friendly crew is one of the most important things! It’s o important for the good experience. I’ve flown to Florida with Air Berlin and loved it as well. I always enjoy the on board entertainment. Love to just watch movies for hours hahaha.

  13. Never tried Cathay Pacific. Good for you that you have a memorable experience flying with them. It so refreshing that there is still an airline out there that we can actually enjoy. And I love how the combination of meat and veggies on their food.

  14. Cathay Pacific has always a trusted and reliable airline. My family and I always choose to fly Cathay when going on long-haul flights. I’m glad that you enjoyed your Cathay experience.

  16. I thought Singapore Airlines is the best in the world…But yes, have heard loads of praises for Cathay as well. The pics look really great. Your bagpack is cool.

  17. It’s good to hear that your first trip abroad was flying Cathay Pacific. They really have good service. I think I have taken it once. My business trips abroad were mostly via Singapore Airlines, Royal Dutch Airways and Thai Airways, but my long-haul flights were on PAL. (I take the budget airlines when I backpack and spend for my own trip.) It’s also awesome that your trip was sponsored! It’s nice to travel abroad because you get to enrich your understanding of other cultures. 🙂 -Claire Algarme

  18. I had the chance to take a trip to Hongkong with Cathay Pacific but unfortunately we got bored waiting cause we were chance passengers back then, which is one of my dad’s privileges so we decided to take other airlines. I’m sad I never had the chance to have a flight with Cathay again 😦 I’ve heard the best things. I really envy you.

  19. We love Cathay Pacific. We booked Premium Economy tickets on our flight from Los Angeles to Vietnam and had a fantastic experience. Now, we would love to get the opportunity to fly either business or first class to see how it could possibly get better since our experience with Premium Economy was so good!

  21. My best flying experience in life thus far has been with Emirates. I’ve never flown with Cathay Pacific so thanks for this review of another airline dedicated to great customer service!

  22. Reading your post reminded me of my first flight to UK when I flew with Emirates. Oh, the chills to experience things for the first time. I am truly happy for your wonderful experience with Cathay!

  23. Wow! Glad Cathay Pacific gave you a memorable experience. Indeed it is the best airline in the world.

By the way, how was the weather? I experienced during my previous flights some terrible weather with heart-pumping turbulence. It’s like riding on a roller coaster at a very high altitude. Geez! Good thing we’re safe. I wonder how does it feel like in Cathay Pacific on a turbulence.

  24. It was August 2007 when I flew with Cathay Pacific going to Hongkong, when I went to mainland China for a 3 days vacation. it was a great and memorable experience. Their food was delicious and the crew are super friendly back then.

    Anyway, Happy Travels.

    Daisy from Qatar

  25. I like how your write. While reading your post, its as if I was on your shoes. I could imagine your personal experience with Cathay Pacific while I am sitting in front of my desktop.

  26. This is probably one of the rare times when you wish the flight is a little longer just to enjoy the aircraft’s amenities. I haven’t tried Cathay but of course it’s a known airline. I usually just fly coach through CebPac.

The first time I ordered a meal on board was during my recent trip (on our way to MNL from BKK). I have to say it was expensive just for an order of bistek Tagalog (350 pesos) but it was really good though. I just had to accept it because I was hungry from 12+ hours of waiting at the airport and I didn’t have enough Thai Baht anymore to buy food.

I’m so happy you have this experience. As they say, the journey is as important as the destination. Or sometimes even more crucial. 🙂 cheers to more travels.

  27. I haven’t had the opportunity to take Cathay Pacific, but I’ve tried Singapore Airlines which was amazing. The food was delicious and the service was great. Hope to have a chance to experience Cathay Pacific soon!

  28. Glad you had an awesome experience riding Cathay Pacific! Feels so luxurious and accommodating, feels like home! Anyway, I wonder how it feels like inside the Cathay Pacific aircraft during turbulence. I tried once with Cebu Pac where it’s like riding on a roller coaster. It is really scary!

  29. Now I know what’s inside Cathay Pacific! Classy! I bet that this first trip of going out of the country is worth remembering, especially this is sponsored. I’m envy 😦 -Jay

  30. If this would be the airline that I’m going to have for my travels, I’d make sure that I’ll have a very long travel time for me to enjoy its amenities and facilities. Wow, ikaw najud Lai! This is indeed a great experience. Hopefully maka take ko ani nga plane soon! Haha. Dugay pa tingae kaayo. Haaayy

  31. Airlines are redirecting themselves into a more enjoyable flight experience lately. Though, I’m not sure if it’s always a sunny day in every flight for Cathay but I’m pretty sure, like any other airline company, the crew and the service they offer will always be focused towards customer satisfaction.

  32. I haven’t tried to ride Cathay Pacific, since wala pa ko ka experience ug international flight. But I received perks from Cathay Pacific because one of my friend is working in this airlines. I can really say that Cathay Pac. really offers great service to the passengers basing on the perks that I received.

  33. It’s really good to hear about your memorable story onboard on one of the world’s known airline. I haven’t tried Cathy Pacific yet, I only tried PAL, Cebu Pacific and SilkAir on my international travels. Hopefully, I can be onboard on this airline in one of my travels.

Thanks for sharing your good experience with this airline Master Lai! Cheers to more travels.

  34. So glad that you had a great time with CX. I have been way unlucky with them almost every time. I actually try to avoid them whenever possible. 99% of the time they made me repack my bag when I’m 1 kg over the limit. In my opinion, they’re more petty than budget airlines (or is it me who is the petty one in this case?). One of the many reasons why I pay more to be on a non-budget airline is that I’m hoping for service and less worries about the luggage weight. No matter, they’ve done this repacking request one too many times and I hate them with a passion.
